Criminal is an improv night in which the foul smell of murder looms large and lingers. One comedian plays a detective; the other three play suspects. The murderer finds out at the beginning of the evening, onstage, that they are guilty. It is the detective's job to work out which of the three suspects this murderer is.
Criminal, produced by Ralph Jones and Joel Gatehouse, comes to town on the last Monday of every month at The Miller in London. Kick-off's 8pm and tickets are cheap.
Comedians including Miles Jupp, Josie Lawrence, Marcus Brigstocke and Cariad Lloyd have performed at the gig, because it's a decent gig and they're decent people. In July 2017 Criminal graced the theatre tent of the Underbelly Festival Southbank.
Here is some preview coverage in The Guardian of Criminal's inaugural night in January 2015.
